What is NanoTalk?
Nanotalk is the unique, community-driven forum dedicated to nanosciences and nanotechnologies. NanoTalk is the premier source where people can get their information about all things nanotechnology, share their news and contributions, and participate in discussions.
NanoTalk allows users like yourself – rather than a Nanowerk news editor – to submit and review news content, questions, comments, points for debate, videos and images.
Everything on NanoTalk is submitted by our Nanowerk community (that would be you). Once an item has been submitted, other users can collectively determine the value of content by voting for it. Users can also directly get in touch with other users.
How does it work?
Nanotalk consists of “Topics”, including images and videos, that have been posted or commented on by Nanotalk members. There are two basic ways to view Nanotalk content:
Popular Topic: These are the most popular topics as voted by Nanotalk members over the past few days. If you want,   you can sort these topics to narrow them down to today, yesterday, this week, this month, or the entire year.
New Topic: These are topics recently submitted by Nanotalk members.
The Category list in the left sidebar allows you to narrow topics down to the categories that interest you. You can also subscribe to an RSS feed for each category.
You need a (free) Nanotalk account to modify your account details, submit stories, comment and basically do things other than browse Nanotalk.
How do I submit an item?
You must first create your free account by clicking on “Register” at the top of the left sidebar. Once completed, simply click on the "Submit a new story" button. This will lead you through the process of submitting a story to Nanotalk. Once posted, Nanowerk visitors will be able to view your post. You can also copy the Nanotalk bookmarklet "Post to Nanotalk", found on the user profile page, to your browser's navigation bar. Whenever you are on a webpage you would like to share with the Nanotalk community, just click the bookmarklet and you will be able to complete the Nanotalk submission process.
What are votes?
Like the topic that you just viewed? Click on the Vote button underneath the green circle to vote for it. The number of times a topic was voted for is reflected in the green round circle to the left of the story. New topics start out with a vote of 1. Every registered user can vote for a topic they like by clicking on the vote button. You can vote only once for each topic – once you have voted for a topic the vote button becomes clear and shows the text "voted". By clicking the "Popular Topics" button in the tabs at the top of each page you can see which topics are the most popular.
What are comments?
The “Comment” button underneath each post lets you comment on it. You can either leave you own comment or see the discussion led by other Nanotalk users.
The Comment section in the left sidebar lets you see the latest discussions on topics across Nanotalk.
How can I keep track of items I, or any other user, submitted or commented on?
Every time a user submits or comments on a topic it is bookmarked and stored within the user profile. To visit your own user profile, click your user profile when you are logged in To view someone else's profile, click their name under the topic headline. This opens a 'view profile' link.
What are “Friends”?
Underneath each Headline or on top of each Comment field is the screen name of the person who posted it. By clicking this name you can see this person’s public profile. You then have the option to add this person to your “friends” list.
Forgot your password?
No problem. The Login page has a checkbox that allows you to request a new password by email.
How do I report bad stories, spam and broken links?
Nanotalk allows for self-moderation and management by the community. Every post has a link like this: "Report a problem". This link will allow you to report any kind of problem with the post. Nanowerk will take action where necessary.
Any post that appears to be spam, splog, or abuses this site or any NanoTalk member will result in the user being banned permanently.

The Nanotalk section of our website is new and is under ongoing development. We can't always anticipate every problem you may encounter while using the site. If you happen to find a problem with Nanotalk,
