Richard Feynman gave a good lecture on nanotech. It is a bit dated but worth a read. Other than that go to A website such as the royal society of chemistry and they should have a small primer book on the subject.

    Here is feynmans lecture

and it came from this nanotec site which is well worth a look:

There is, but its very very very small…
    :-)

Seriously get him to read the wikipedia item on it:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanotechnology

But nanotechnology is not the normal sort of thing an 8-year old boy would be interested in. Has he grown out of action men and ninja turtles?
But good luck to him if he is interested in them. He could be a science prodigy.

Drexler’s book is not to be recommended. Its farcical and sensationalized.
